Post Phishing in Taern
Hello,

In last few days you received on both servers messages with Christmas promotions. Many people asked, if it is true, some of you followed link which was included there and even gave your account details.

There are two types of phishing messages which you may receive:
- holiday promotions with free plat;
- free plat/items generators.

Fake messages about promotions can be sent via priv or mail.
Here are few examples:
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Spoiler:

First of all, they are sent by people with silly names like TaernBosss
They are sent from people with dark green nicknames, that mean they are users, nothing more.
Links in that messages reefer to free domains hostings, there is always something between "taern" and "com/pl", for example http://www.taern.abc.com.

Messages about working free plat/item generators can be sent via priv or mail.
They can reefer to generators, blogs or youtube videos.
They always contain prove that it works and possitive comments, but it is always FAKE.
It never worked and never will :!:

In general, there are two ways of stealing your account details, in both of them thief need your participation:
- site where you need to put your account details;
- program, where you put your account details or just press button

They can steal your login details when you press only one button in unknown program, everything you need to do is be logged in game.

Few rules you need to remember and practise

- noone will ever ask for your password

- password is only needed on main page -> http://www.taern.com

- if you play through our partners, for ex. Kongregate, you log in on their site and automatically connect to Taern

- staff members always have colored :!: nicknames:
Red for Admin Image
Orange for GameMaster Image
Light green for ChatModerators Image

- official promotions will be always shown on this Forum or in News tab in game, noone will PM single players, too much work ;)

- official info will be always sent from people you know, they will always have colored nickname. If you not sure if someone is staff member, you can always contact us through Support -> http://www.support.taern.com

- all phising actions need your participation, be cautious

- do not share your e-mail and password with other people, you never know when they change their mind

- always remember to log out and close browser if you play in public place

- I got such message, what to do?
- First of all, do not follow any link it include. Please contact staff member and show him screenshot - we need prove to do something with it.DO NOT post this message on any chat!

I opened suspicious link and gave login details
As soon as possible change your password, contact staff to get further info

This is a good post. There needs to be something like this in the tips in-game. Not enough people come to the forums =/

Tips about passwords:

Do use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, symbols and numbers.

Don't use commonly used passwords such as 123456, the word "password," “qwerty”, “111111”, or a word like, “monkey”.

Do make sure your user passwords are at least eight characters long. The more characters and symbols your passwords contain, the more difficult they are to guess.

Don't use a solitary word in any language. Hackers have dictionary-based systems to crack these types of passwords. If you insist on using a word, misspell it as much as possible, or insert numbers for letters. For example, if you want to use the phrase “I love chocolate” you can change it to @1L0v3CH0c0L4t3!

Don't use a derivative of your name, the name of a family member or the name of a pet. In addition to names, do not use phone numbers, addresses, birthdays or Social Security numbers.

Don’t use the same password across multiple websites. If remembering multiple passwords is an issue, you can use a password manager such as Norton Identity Safe to securely store your passwords.

Do use abbreviated phrases for passwords. You can choose a phrase such as "I want to go to England." You can convert this phrase to an abbreviation by using the first letters of each word and changing the word "to" to a number "2." This will result in the following basic password phrase: iw2g2e. Make it even more complex by adding punctuation, spaces or symbols: %iw2g2e!@

Don't write your passwords down, share them with anyone or let anyone see you log into devices or websites.

Do change your passwords regularly.

Do log out of websites and devices when you are finished using them.
